Summary Extract of the Local Planning Brief

The Inspector undertaking the Planning Inquiry welcomes comments and representations on the published draft Local Planning Brief. His job is to assess the Brief against legal and procedural requirements, including whether the proposals contained within the Brief are ‘sound’. There are accompanying Inspector's Guidance Notes which explain the Inquiry process in more detail and what ‘sound’ means with regard to planning documents.

The Inspector does not wish to prescribe how you make your written submission, or how brief or long it is. It could be a general comment, an expression of support or opposition, views about a specific matter, and/or a detailed critique of the whole Brief and the policies and proposals maps contained within it.

If you are making a very detailed submission, i.e., more than 1,500 words, you will need to provide a short summary (not exceeding 350 words). If you are making a case that the Brief should be modified in some way, it is very important that you identify precisely which part you are referring to.

There are three stages for the public consultation and engagement:

Stage 1: Initial Representations (comments)

You are invited to submit Initial Representations (comments) to an independent Planning Inspector on the proposals via this portal.

The period for making comments and suggestions for changes to the Draft Local Planning Brief closes at 5pm on Monday 14th October, 2024.

Stage 2: Further Representations

At this stage, members of the public are able to make comments on the suggestions and feedback already received from the Initial Representations stage.

Please note, once the period of Initial Representations is closed on the 14th October 2024, no further new topics / areas for comment can be made, over and above those already commented on and published.

Stage 3: Public Hearing

The Public Hearing sessions will provide opportunities for structured discussion and scrutiny of the Local Planning Brief. Prior to the hearing sessions, the Inspector will have set out his Statement of Matters and the formal timetable for the hearing sessions.
